Immerse | Emerge

Welcome to the heart and soul of the album

In 2014, I had written a double single called Precipitate | Evaporate. The idea was to write a metal song with a post rock continuation, kind of a calm after the storm. It would have the same musical themes and ideas as the heavy track but chill.

Fast forward to early 2021, I had just moved back, or as I say, forward, to Tampa. For some personal backstory, I moved to New York City in January of 2020. A year in lockdown by myself was all I needed to be more motivated than ever to reconnect with the people that are most important to me.

The gratitude, my environment, and everyone around me had me in a constant state of creativity. I started sketching out what became Immerse. I followed the same principles that I did writing Uproot - songwriting first, every piece and layer placed with fierce intentionality.

I had a positive feedback loop going and was on my way to Seattle in April of that year. It’s one of my favorite cities and I try to go as often as I can.

The first thing I always get when I tell people I like to go out there is “but there’s so much rain! 🌧”… exactly. I’m always more inspired in cooler and darker climates, even though I live in one of the hottest, brightest parts of the US.

There’s a lot of history in West Seattle. Chris Cornell, Kurt Cobain, Eddie Vedder all came up here and it’s the home of grunge. I would be a poser if I told you that this is what inspired me, but it’s very cool and the spirit of the scene is still alive and well.

This song was a leap of faith for Constructing Infinity. I reached back out to Austin to create another album cover. I had pretty much accepted that Constructing Infinity was done to the point that I forgot we had another album cover to use. It was meant to be.

Immerse | Emerge came out in August of 2021 and was my most well received song to date
