Nosedive
This is the first, never before heard song on the album. I named this one after an episode of Black Mirror because it sounded dark and brooding. It’s an all too relevant representation of what’s going on from a societal perspective regarding social currency. If you’re not familiar, I highly recommend you check it out
The first two riffs of this song were originally written for a riff writing competition for Balaguer Guitars. I wanted them to be straightforward, hard hitting, and technical.
When I was deciding on the direction of the song, I made the conscious decision that this was going to be a heavy one. There was a set of riffs I had lying around during quarantine that fit in perfectly with the sketch of what became the final product (the intro). They clicked so perfectly that I had no doubt in my mind that they would be the outro.
The working title for the original track that the outro belonged to was “Denouement” a French word signifying the culmination of a body of work. Candidly, I thought this would be the last song I’d release as Constructing Infinity, and I’m so glad that’s not the case.
Check out this throwback clip from July of 2020 at peak lockdown while I was writing Nosedive.

Original album art I put together. I set up outside of downtown Tampa and took a long exposure while adjusting my zoom lens
Salt of the Earth
Salt of the Earth is a phrase I love to use when talking about somebody endearingly. Salt of the Earth is somebody who means well for everyone
I may or may not have stolen this phrase from a co-worker of mine at the time, so Doug, if you’re reading this, here’s the shout out you think you deserve.
Salt of the Earth, like Pareidolia, features James Knoerl on the drums. I sent the drum multi tracks to Alan Rigdon at Study Sound Recordings to mix and he crushed it.
This is one of my favorite songs to play. Its original release in 2018 was pretty much heard by nobody, and I mean nobody. For some reason, at that point in time, I thought it would be a good idea to rebrand Constructing Infinity to be just my own name, Alex Quaglieri, since there was nobody else in the band.
I consider that decision to have been a major setback in my creative career. It didn’t make much sense to do this as people had already familiarized themselves with Stonewall and Endure. It would’ve also been limiting in terms of what I could do with the project. We’ve course corrected and are back on track!
